Oil Portrait – Rose Portrait – 18 Hour Course
Portrait painting is arguably the most difficult of all compositions. In this 18-hour course we will be looking at the complexities of rendering believable skin tones and learn, that from the same limited palette which has been used for centuries, we can achieve a vast range of skin colours. We know not all skin colours are the same, and depending on the environment the portrait is in, will also have an effect on the warm & cool tones that’s needed. Each portrait will come with challenges, it is our job, as the artist, to recognising them and work towards overcoming them.
In this 18-hour course, we will learn about all the materials required and how to use them. Starting with the underpainting, the importance of “value” will be discussed before we move unto the layering colour method. Strong emphasis will be shown to colour theory and brush work which will inevitably improve your portrait painting in the future.
Like all my classes/workshop, this is open to both beginners & improvers.

All Instructional videos are recorded from live zoom classes. Recordings have been edited so only the tutor can be seen and heard throughout demonstrations
